ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, and priming walls, ceilings, or other building surfaces
- Apply paints, stains, varnishes, and other finishes using brushes, rollers, or sprayers, ensuring even and consistent coverage
- Mix and match paint colors to achieve specified shades and textures as requested by the project team
- Erect and disassemble scaffolding, ladders, and/or poly containment to safely reach work areas; follow all safety protocols
- Utilize and maintain painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, sprayers, respirators, and power washers, in a safe and effective manner
- Protect surfaces or objects not intended to be painted using drop cloths, masking tape, and other protective materials
- Assist with minor drywall or carpentry repairs (patching holes, fixing trim) to ensure a smooth painting surface when necessary
- Perform touch-ups and repairs on previously painted surfaces to maintain a professional and uniform appearance
- Follow blueprints, sketches, or work orders to determine materials required and ensure accurate execution of project specifications
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, promptly disposing of debris, leftover paint, and related materials
- Accurately record and report work hours and project details to supervisors in a timely manner
- Work efficiently within set deadlines to complete painting projects on schedule while maintaining quality standards
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and other trades to coordinate tasks and ensure a smooth workflow
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards regarding workplace safety and hazardous materials handling
- Inspect completed work to identify touch-ups, inconsistencies, or additional repairs needed before final approval
- Assist in general construction tasks, including framing, and trim work
- Install, repair, or replace doors, and windows, and other structural components as needed
- Measure, cut, and assemble materials using hand and power tools according to project specifications
- Support site clean-up and material handling, ensuring an organized and safe work environment
- Operate equipment such as saws, drills, sanders, and other power tools safely and effectively
- Assist in setting up and breaking down work areas, including moving materials and preparing surfaces
- Provide general labor support to carpenters, and other skilled trades as directed
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 1–4 years of painting or relevant construction experience preferred
- Working knowledge of different paints, finishes, surface preparation, and application techniques
- Familiarity with safe operation of hand and power tools
- Strong attention to detail and color discrimination
- Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, and work well within a team or independently as needed
- Valid driver’s license; reliable transportation
- Satisfactory criminal and driver’s record check
- Willingness to travel to job sites within the state
