Once a key part of Lewiston’s textile industry, the Continental Mill’s historic Picker House has been transformed into 72 mixed-income apartments, preserving its industrial character while introducing modern living spaces. This adaptive re-use project supports the city’s riverfront revitalization, blending affordable and market-rate housing.
Residents enjoy a rooftop deck, fitness center, community room, bike storage, easy access to the Androscoggin River, and downtown amenities. Navigating historic tax credits required a fast-tracked buildout of floors 1-3, with careful coordination ensuring project success.
This project holds special significance as the final collaboration between Simon Hebert and his late father, Mike Hebert, who led Hebert Construction with unwavering dedication, generosity, and mentorship for nearly four decades. Mike’s legacy lives on through every project, and this transformation is a tribute to his leadership and vision. It also marks the fourth housing project with The Szanton Company, underscoring a shared commitment to thoughtful redevelopment and community growth.
